Konferans lokal nan Grund eksplore istwa rejyonal pòmdetè nan Nassau ak Siegerland

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the community house in Grund will host a special lecture titled “Potatoes in Nassau and the Siegerland Region,” delivered by Reinhard Gamlich, retired municipal archivist and executive director of the Hilchenbach Historical Society. Organized jointly by the local Grund association and the Hilchenbach-based “Initiative for Future Aging” (IZA), the event will examine how potato cultivation and preparation methods varied across these German regions over the centuries. Gamlich will draw on historical records to highlight the tuber’s profound influence on local diets, farming practices, and everyday life—a story that, like few other staple foods, has shaped regional identity for generations.

The lecture is free to attend, and organizers have added a culinary touch to match the theme: the Grund club’s baking group will fire up the oven to serve freshly baked, fluffy potato rolls from their own bakery, offering guests a taste of the very ingredient under discussion.
